June 1, 2009 — Orth-Rodgers Announces Five Recent Wins! Orth-Rodgers & Associates Inc. teamed with Maguire Group to win a recent design-build selection in PennDOT District 12-0. As a subconsultant to Maguire, Orth-Rodgers will complete the design of one of the three bridge replacement projects contained in the agreement. The selected project is located at the grade separated interchange of SR 19 and SR 519 in North Strabane Township, Washington County. Orth-Rodgers will provide environmental, public involvement, highway, structural, and lighting services for the contract which will advance the design through conceptual approval prior to advertising for a design-build contractor. Orth-Rodgers was also successful in a recent selection for PennDOT District 11-0. The SR0065 Bridge over the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad located in Ellwood City, Lawrence County is slated for replacement. As the prime consultant, ORA will provide engineering services for the existing three span bridge and approach retaining walls which includes environmental, public involvement, highway, structural, and lighting design. Joining our team are Raudenbush Engineering, TBE Group, and Heberling Associates. The agreement is expected to last five years and includes preliminary design, final design, and construction consultation services. PennDOT District 4-0 selected Orth-Rodgers to complete the design of four bridge replacement projects in Lackawanna County. Bridge Group #22 includes SR 407 over a tributary to Lackawanna Lake; SR 171 over Elk Creek; SR 438 over the South Branch Tunkhannock Creek; and SR 1009 over Fall Brook. Each of the structures is a single span bridge for which preliminary design, final design and construction consultation services are being provided. ORA will lead the environmental, structural, and highway design services on two of the bridges with other services provided by the Louis Berger Group, NTM Engineering, AWK Consulting Engineers, and ASC Group. Orth-Rodgers continued its success on the design-build side by teaming with Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. who submitted the low bid for three bridge rehabilitation projects in Tioga County, PennDOT District 3-0. ORA will provide final design services for the SR 4002 Bridge over Catlin Hollow Creek; SR 4005 over North Fork Creek; and SR 4012 over Hornby Hollow Creek. Providing structural and highway design services, ORA is to achieve design approval for one bridge by October 2009, and the remaining two by December 2009. The rehabilitations include new superstructures on each bridge, miscellaneous substructure repairs, and approach roadway improvements. Orth-Rodgers was also successful in winning another design-build agreement in District 5 by teaming with Eastern Industries, who submitted the low bid for the SR 329 Betterment Project in Whitehall and North Whitehall Townships in Lehigh County.
