Highway Designer
Orth-Rodgers is seeking Highway Designer for our Great Valley (Malvern) Office to work on all types of highway projects. The qualified candidate must have at least 2 to 5 years of experience in the preparation of roadway plans for PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. The ideal candidate possesses working knowledge of highway geometrics, drainage design, and traffic operations. Microstation and InRoads experience is required. Drainage software experience is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required. Engineering-In-Training certificate is desirable. The qualified candidate must have a minimum of 5 to 8 years experience in PENNDOT bridge design, including preparation of design calculations, final plans, and specifications. The candidate must have a working knowledge of PENNDOT and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Standards. Knowledge of PENNDOT bridge design software is also required. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university along with licensure as a Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania is required. CADD Drafter
ORA is currently seeking a CADD Drafter for our Mechanicsburg Office. Two plus years of Computer Aided Drafting experience using Microstation is required. Experience producing roadway plans for PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission projects required. InRoads experience a plus. Job duties include various CADD assignments including plan preparation, field studies and data collection, assisting Engineers and Designers in the development of engineering documents. Electrical Engineer
Orth-Rodgers & Associates, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for our Mechanicsburg, PA office.

The candidate should possess a strong desire to learn highway lighting, and highway traffic signal design and develop sufficient expertise to eventually conduct reviews of work performed by subordinate staff including calculations, final plans specifications and estimates.

Skills should include electrical distribution design, high voltage transformer and voltage distribution, and circuit breaker sizing. The candidate should expect to develop a working familiarity with MUTCD, NEMA, NEC, UL and NTCIP. The candidate should expect to develop an excellent working knowledge of both PennDOT, AASHTO AND IES RP-8 specifications, standards and related software.

The ideal candidate is self motivated, and has a strong desire to learn additional related skills including ITS and telecommunications design, and field device asset management.

The qualified candidate must have a BSEE from an ABET-certified college or university and possess their Professional Engineer’s license in Pennsylvania (or the ability to obtain their PA PE by comity within three months), and speak and write English fluently.

Environmental Scientist
Orth-Rodgers is seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Mechanicsburg Office. The qualified candidate must have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in the natural resource field including wetland identification/delineation and functional assessments; preparation of NEPA documents; threatened/endangered species field assessments; preparation of permit applications; and completion of Phase I ESAs. The candidate should also have strong technical writing, organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently. A working knowledge of the PennDOT CE Expert System and the JPA2 System is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in biology, geology, environmental science, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
